Meet The Clinic Founders
David Butler, DPT, OCS
David Butler is the founder of Align Therapy, a specialized physical therapy practice dedicated to treating complex spinal conditions and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Born and raised in Utah, David’s journey into physical therapy began at a young age through personal experience. After multiple injuries during childhood, including a broken arm, he spent significant time in physical therapy and became fascinated by the process of recovery, movement, and healing. Those early experiences planted the foundation for a career focused on helping others regain confidence in their bodies.
David pursued formal training in physical therapy and went on to work as an orthopedic specialist early in his career. During this time, he treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, from joint injuries to post surgical rehabilitation. However, as his clinical experience grew, David noticed a consistent gap in care for patients with complex spinal conditions. Many individuals with scoliosis, kyphosis, and other spinal deformities were not receiving the specialized attention they truly needed. These cases often required a deeper understanding of spinal mechanics and condition specific strategies that extended beyond traditional orthopedic care.
In 2015, driven by a desire to provide better solutions for these patients, David founded Align Therapy with a clear and intentional focus on spinal deformities. The clinic was built to serve individuals who had often been told that surgery or long term pain management were their only options. By narrowing the clinical focus, David was able to develop highly specialized programs for scoliosis and other complex spine conditions, creating a care environment designed around precision, education, and long term outcomes.
Today, Align Therapy operates clinics in St. George and Lehi and has grown to a team of four therapists who treat spinal deformities every day. Approximately eighty percent of the clinic’s patients are individuals with scoliosis or related spinal conditions. The practice is widely recognized for its expertise in the Schroth Method and other scoliosis specific exercise approaches, establishing Align Therapy as a leading destination for non surgical scoliosis care in the state of Utah.
In recent years, David has expanded the clinic’s capabilities to address chronic pain and orthopedic conditions at a deeper level. By incorporating regenerative therapies such as shockwave therapy and stimpod treatments, Align Therapy focuses on improving tissue healing and addressing the root cause of pain rather than chasing symptoms. This integrated approach allows patients to recover more efficiently and reduces the likelihood of recurring issues.
Through Align Therapy, David has created a clinic that blends specialized spine care with advanced healing technologies, offering patients a clear path toward lasting relief, improved function, and greater confidence in their movement.
Gary Huntington, DPT
Gary Huntington is a co founder of Align Therapy and plays a key role in supporting the clinic’s patient centered mission and long term vision. His work is grounded in a shared belief that effective care must focus on helping people move with confidence and return to the activities that matter most to them. From Align Therapy’s earliest days, Gary has been closely involved in shaping the practice’s direction, ensuring that clinical excellence and thoughtful patient experience remain central to everything the clinic offers.
As Align Therapy has grown into a specialized destination for scoliosis, spinal deformities, and complex musculoskeletal conditions, Gary has contributed to building a practice rooted in precision, consistency, and purpose. His commitment to Align Therapy reflects a dedication to creating an environment where patients feel supported, understood, and guided through care that prioritizes long term outcomes rather than short term fixes. Together with David and Dionne Butler, Gary helps lead Align Therapy with a clear focus on integrity, collaboration, and lasting impact.
Dionne Butler, NCMT
Dionne Butler is a licensed massage therapist and co-founder of Align Therapy, where she plays a central role in both patient care and clinic leadership. She received her Massage Therapy degree from Provo College and has worked with a wide range of patients throughout her career, developing a particular interest in treatments that address specific problems and help individuals return to the activities they love. Raised in Gunnison, Utah, Dionne grew up immersed in outdoor recreation and sports, experiences that shaped her appreciation for movement, recovery, and the importance of feeling confident in one’s body. As Align Therapy’s clinical focus evolved, she recognized the need for massage techniques that aligned with the complexities of spinal deformity and began developing scoliosis and spine-specific massage approaches tailored to the unique structural differences of each individual.
From the beginning, Dionne has been instrumental in shaping Align Therapy into what it is today. When the clinic opened, integrating massage therapy was a natural extension of its specialized spine care, and Dionne led the development of the massage program to support the clinic’s growing scoliosis and chronic pain population. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as Clinic Manager and brings extensive experience in insurance, billing, and office operations, ensuring the practice functions with the same precision and intention that defines its clinical care. Outside the clinic, Dionne enjoys volleyball, hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors with her four children, continuing to embrace the active lifestyle that originally inspired her path into healthcare.
